General Deals

All the 'deals' are per the best of my knowledge.  Obviously, I do not go to all these places every week, so I may be off.  If something has expired, or is out of stock, I'll be happy to update it if you send me a note.

Augason Farms

Some specials are available online, others are only at the outlet.  See the Auguson Farms website for their contact information, store hours, and products.  This company used to be The Blue Chip Group.

The outlet has a scratch-and-dent section; freeze-dried fruits/veggies are $10 for a #10 can; all other #10 cans are $5.

I'm not interested in a lot of what they sell, since I can make it cheaper- and healthier- myself, but there are some good deals to be found.

Some deals found at the outlet are: 25-lb bag of oats for $9, 25-lb bag of red beans for $10, 25-lb bag Bob's Red Mill organic amaranth flour, $7.50; 25-lb bag Bob's Red Mill organic quinoa flour, $7.50; 50-lb bag brown flaxseed, $15.  A 50-lb bag of Morning Moo's Milk (which is whey-based) is $90.  Most dry-powder-milk products make 1 gallon of milk per pound of powder.  I'm assuming this reconstitutes similarly; if so, that would be $1.80/gallon.  These in-store specials are while-they-last-only; I recommend calling them before you go if you have your heart set on something.
 If you would like some easy, quick options in your pantry, they have a One-Month Pack, 48 #2 1/2 cans of everything from Creamy Wheat Cereal (like Malt-O-Meal), to freeze-dried strawberries, to just-add-water chili.   The retail on this is $225, and it's on at the outlet sale for $175.  My first reaction was that this is still a lot of money, but think about it: how much do you spend per person for a month's worth of food? This makes for cheap convenience food.
See here for outlet-only specials, or see here for online specials.  As of 5/26 their #10 can of freeze-dried strawberries is on sale for just under $12.  There are about 12 1/2 cups of berries in each can, which equates to about 3 1/2 pounds fresh berries, or about $3.40/lb.  That's a good price for berries  that don't need washed, refrigerated, or somehow else kept from spoiling.

Local Grocery Deals

WF = Western Family

Foods that become the most in-demand in hard times include cooking oil, butter, sugar, cocoa or chocolate.  Watch for sales!  Sugar stores forever as long as it doesn't get wet.

The Baker's Outlet and Donut Shop  serves as a discount outlet for Dunford bakery, along with other products for sale.  Their current Monday Special is Dunford white or wheat bread $1.25/loaf, plus they always have a $1 and $1.50 rack with artisan-type breads.  They also had 3# bags of fresh Gala apples for about $3.50.  Their address is 12652 S. 2700 W., Riverton, UT 84065, (801)253-2548

To see the best deals these stores have, check back Tuesday nights (after they send me the weekly ads- sorry, I'm running behind right now!)
